Tata Sierra EV to launch in 2025?
Tata Motors has found a new life with its SUV lineup. Only a few years back, Tata was in the bottom half of the sales chart. Tata had to completely restructure itself by bringing in new cars. Fast-forward to the present, and Tata is competing with Hyundai for the second spot on the manufacturer’s sales chart. Tata doesn’t want to get complacent and wants to continue this momentum with more SUVs. To do this, Tata is even bringing back iconic nameplates like the Sierra. Launch in 2025?
Earlier this year, Tata unveiled two new electric concept cars- Curvv and Avinya. The Avinya will be based on a ground-up electric platform and is expected to launch in 2025. So what is its connection with the Sierra EV? Earlier it was speculated that the Sierra could be based on the Sigma architecture that underpins the Curvv. But we think Tata could use the Avinya platform for the Sierra. The Avinya platform is bigger and better, qualities Tata will need in the Sierra EV. Considering the legacy of the Sierra, Tata will not want to compromise on its specifications. Also, Tata must have seen Mahindra’s born electric EVs and would want to compete with them. Tata has confirmed that it will be launching the Avinya in 2025. So can we expect the Sierra EV in 2025? Only time can tell.
Specifications
We have already talked about the platform, what about other specifications? Tata revealed its plan of offering a 500+km range with the Avinya EV. So will it be the same on the Sierra EV? We think yes, it could get 600km of the claimed range as technology is only improving. A claimed range of 600km could drop to a real-world range of 450km, considering the weight of the car and off-road setup. What about performance? The Sierra EV is expected to come with impressive power figures and efficiency.
Tata Sierra EV launch- Features
Nowadays, features have become the main selling point of a car. The Sierra EV will be one of Tata’s premium offerings, and Tata will have to justify that with modern features. What all premium features could it get? Some of the expected features include big touchscreen infotainment, multi-mode regen, multi-colour ambient lighting, dual-zone climate control, a premium sound system and a panoramic sunroof. The Sierra could also come with some type of off-roading setup to continue its legacy.
