Hyundai Tucson to face a new competitor soon!
The premium mid-size segment has not seen much activity in the last few years. Citroen launched the C5 Aircross in 2021, but it failed to do anything significant. But a major shake-up is going to happen in this segment with the launch of the new Tucson. Last week, Hyundai unveiled the new Tucson with a launch happening next month. The new Hyundai SUV has garnered praise from everyone. Citroen has been quietly observing all this and is preparing to compete with the new Tucson. What is this French carmaker’s plan? Citroen is planning to launch the facelifted C5 Aircross in India. In today’s article, we will talk about this upcoming Hyundai Tucson competitor.
New styling
The updated C5 Aircorss gets some subtle changes at the front. So what are these changes? The new C5 Aircross comes with new headlamps that are integrated into the LED DRLs. These LED DRLs split the headlamp into two units. These LED bars continue on the grille, but this time the logo is placed independently. The front air dam is also new with larger vents. What about the side profile? The side profile is more or less identical, the only change being the new alloy wheels. Coming to the rear, the taillamps get a black tint now with a rectangular design.

The interior also gets a major upgrade in the new Citroen. The biggest change is the new 10-inch floating infotainment system. Also, it now gets rectangular AC vents below the infotainment system. Digital controls for the infotainment system are now placed below the AC vents. What else does it get? The automatic gearbox now gets a toggle switch unit and revised switchgear for other functions. The updated C5 Aircross also gets more USB ports in the cabin.
Same specifications
Globally, Citroen has been slowly phasing out its diesel engines. Outside India, the C5 Aircross comes with a 1.5-litre diesel engine, as well as petrol and hybrid options. So will Citroen discontinue the 2.0-litre diesel engine in India? We don’t think so, as the diesel engine is a strong point in this segment. So it could continue with the 2.0-litre diesel engine capable of producing 174bhp and 400Nm of torque.

Citroen is yet to confirm anything about the C5 Aircross facelift launch here, but according to reports, the C5 Aircross facelift could see a launch in September.
