Hyundai IONIQ 5 for India – things you must know!
Hyundai India after taking care of the affordable and mid-range segments with the newly-launched Venue facelift and new-generation Tucson should now be back on bringing its first premium electric car to India. Hyundai is all set to launch the IONIQ 5 in India this year. This particular EV has won multiple accolades globally for its design as well as a product holistically. Design & Platform
The IONIQ 5’s main point of attraction would definitely be its design. It comes with a futuristic design that is expected to turn heads once it rolls on the roads here. The IONIQ 5 is expected to draw many to its minimalistic interiors as well. The EV comes with a single-piece display, integrating the infotainment system and the digital instrument cluster. The IONIQ 5 comes based on the brand’s E-GMP platform, specifically developed for EVs. This is the same platform that underpins the Kia EV6 as well.
Battery & Motor
Hyundai offers the IONIQ 5 with two different (58kWh and 72.6kWh) battery packs. The 58kWh battery pack offers a claimed range of up to 385km, while the 72.6kWh battery pack returns a claimed range of up to 481km. Apart from this, RWD and AWD drivetrains are made available. RWD setup (base trim) makes 168bhp & 350Nm of torque, while the AWD setup (top trim) makes 301bhp & 605Nm of torque. We expect similar specs to be offered in India as well. Different combinations of battery pack and drivetrain are expected to be on offer to give buyers a variety of options.
Hyundai IONIQ 5 India Features
As far as features are concerned, Hyundai is known to load its cars with many of them. As mentioned above, a fully-digital instrument cluster, a big touchscreen infotainment system, premium BOSE sound system, etc. will be a part of the package. ADAS is another feature that is offered with the IONIQ 5. With the Tucson now offering Level 2 ADAS in the country, the IONIQ 5 too is expected to come bundled with this feature.
Hyundai IONIQ 5 India Pricing
Hyundai will be bringing the IONIQ 5 via the CKD route. Due to this, we might get to see the IONIQ 5 offered at a lucrative pricing. Now, what could the pricing mark be? We expect the pricing to start from somewhere around Rs 50 lakh (ex-showroom). At this pricing, Hyundai could attract a lot of potential buyers from different segments.
