Mahindra, as a carmaker has established its image of bringing powerful, feature-loaded machines to the market. We have seen this with the Scorpio-N, the Thar and the XUV700. However, there is one more car in the brand’s stable that clearly follows this trend. The XUV300 packs in the performance to make any avid driver smile. The XUV300 offers the most torque-producing petrol & diesel engines in its segment. Now, Mahindra is looking to give the XUV300 even more power with a new petrol engine. This will make it the most powerful car in its segment. In today’s article, let’s talk about this upcoming powerful Mahindra SUV.
What’s the update?
Mahindra is said to introduce the 1.2-litre mStallion turbo-petrol engine to the XUV300. The new engine could come packed in a new variant expected to be called ‘Sportz’. What’s so special about this engine? The mStallion engines are developed in-house by Mahindra with direct injection and overboost technologies. This engine could come with manual and AMT gearbox options. What about the current engine options? The Sportz variant will mostly sit above the regular petrol variants with normal variants expected to continue with the 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel options.
What else could change?
Mahindra had displayed the XUV300 Sportz variant at the Auto Expo 2020. So what changes did it come with? The Sportz variant boasted a sporty vinyl with chequered flags. Will this come on the production version? Only time will tell. There were front red brake callipers also present as highlights. Coming to the interiors, we did see some more red highlights on the steering wheel, infotainment system and seats. We expect all of this to continue with the production variant as well. What about features? It is mostly expected to retain current features from the top model.
Powerful Mahindra SUV – Launch and pricing
There is no official confirmation from Mahindra regarding the Sportz variant. According to reports, Mahindra is planning to launch the XUV300 Sportz variant in the next two to three months. What about the pricing? Currently, the pricing of the XUV300 petrol starts from Rs 9.91 lakh and goes to Rs 15.69 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). This new engine could be offered on the top variants of the XUV300. It could attract a premium of Rs 50,000 to Rs 70,000, depending upon the variants.
