Segment-first feature for next-gen Maruti Swift confirmed?
The Maruti Swift is one of the best-selling hatchbacks in the country. This hatchback has consistently been taking a spot in the top-selling cars of India’s list every month. Last month, Maruti sold 16,213 units of the hatchback. This clearly shows its popularity in the country. Now, Maruti updated the Swift in 2021 which was a considerable update in terms of design, powertrain and technology. However, the next-gen Maruti Swift is expected to get an even bigger update. Maruti is also planning to pack in a specific segment-first feature that will completely change this hatchback’s game and put the rivals’ ability to survive in the market at test. Bigger dimensions?
The current Swift is 3845mm in length, 1735mm in width & 1530mm in height, and sits on a 2450mm wheelbase. Will the new Swift be bigger? Since the next-gen is expected to come based on the same HEARTECT platform, any improvement in dimensions are not expected. However, there is nothing confirmed and any improvement is anyhow welcome.
Next-gen Maruti Swift – New exterior
The Swift has always been a sporty and smart-looking car, and that is expected to continue with the new one as well. What can Maruti change? The headlamps could be redesigned and it could also get a new grille. Maruti might bring new colour options for the new Swift. Apart from this, the car might even get new alloys to give it an overall fresh appeal.

Specifications
Currently, the Swift comes with a 1.2-litre Dual Jet petrol engine mated to a five-speed manual and AMT gearbox. The engine is capable of producing 89bhp & 113Nm of torque. Now, this is one department where Maruti could create a mark. Maruti recently put out in open its plans of bringing strong hybrids across the range. This means that in the coming time, we could see a car like the Swift offer hybrid tech. However, this should not come as a surprise. Maruti had already showcased the Swift Hybrid in Auto Expo. If this is what Maruti is looking to achieve, the Swift will definitely be the first car in its segment to offer such a technology. This will be a great boon for buyers since they will get in return impressive mileage figures.
