Tata’s SUV lineup continues to go from strength to strength. It has SUVs in various categories and sizes, but Tata still doesn’t have a direct rival for the Hyundai Creta. The Hyundai Creta resides in one of the most profitable segments in India. So, where is Tata’s Creta rival? Thankfully, Tata’s next new SUV could be the long-awaited Hyundai Creta rival. In today’s article, we will talk about Tata’s next SUV and everything that we know about it so far.

Tata’s plan

Tata’s Creta rival is expected to be the Curvv-concept based SUV, which the brand unveiled earlier this year. So what’s so unique about the Curvv? Even though it was a concept, it revealed Tata’s plan of bringing a coupe SUV into the Creta segment. This could do wonders considering the uniqueness of coupe SUVs. Also, the Curvv will come with both EV and ICE options which will give it another advantage over the Hyundai Creta.

Tata Hyundai Creta rival – Design

The Curvv concept had a lot of futuristic elements that we won’t mostly get to see on the production car. After all, that was a concept car. So what can we expect? The basic silhouette could remain the same; so we could see a tapering roofline. Tata could retain the LED DRLs running throughout the bonnet. At the rear, we could also see inverted L-shaped LED tail lamps. The Curvv SUV will come based on the brand’s Gen-3 Architecture.

Tata Hyundai Creta rival – Features

Tata knows that this segment can only be won by features. This is the reason why this concept came loaded with features. Electric tailgate, panoramic sunroof, floating digital instrument cluster, a big touchscreen infotainment system, digital AC controls and two-spoke steering wheel were some of the features that the concept came with. If not all, we expect to see at least some of the features on the production-ready car. A CNG button was also made available on the concept. Could Tata be hinting at something? Only time will tell.

Tata Hyundai Creta rival – Specifications

Tata has been quite tightlipped regarding the specifications of the Curvv. One thing it has confirmed is that there will be an ICE and an EV version. Predicting the EV specifications is hard, but we do have a rough idea of the ICE engine options. Our internal sources did inform us that this SUV could get a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol and 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine. The 1.5-litre diesel engine could also be a part of the package. We have written a detailed story about everything our sources informed us. You can check it out by clicking on the link below.

Launch timeline

The Curvv is still in its early stages of development. Tata has already confirmed that the Curvv electric would first see a launch first and it is expected to happen in the next two years, sometime in 2024. ICE-powered Curvv will follow the EV launch a few months later. However, a lot of this does depend on the chip shortage that the industry is facing on a global level.
