Price expectations
Guessing the price of the Innova Hycross is a bit tricky. According to rumours, Toyota will be selling the Hycross and Crysta in tandem. Both vehicles are expected to be positioned together. We think Toyota might discontinue some of the higher variants of the Crysta. Currently, Innova Crysta starts from Rs 21.42 lakh and goes to Rs 31.31 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). So we expect the Hycross to start from somewhere around Rs 25 lakh and mostly reach the Rs 33 lakh (on-road, Mumbai) mark.
Toyota Innova Hycross – No diesel
Yes, you heard that right, the Innova Hycross will not be coming with a diesel engine. So why is Toyota doing this? It seems to be due to the upcoming emission norms in various countries. Instead, the Innova Hycross is said to come with a 2.0-litre petrol engine paired with a strong hybrid setup. The hybrid setup will not doubt be efficient, but can it match the efficiency of a diesel engine? Will have to wait for that.
What else do we know?
We have a fair amount of information about the new Innova. The camouflaged car has already been spotted in India and Southeast Asia. It is expected to get a more SUVish design to attract customers. However the biggest change will be the platform. According to rumours, the new Innova will be based on Toyota’s TNGA platform. So why is that important? This will mean that the Innova will move from a ladder-on-frame chassis to monocoque chassis. The change will translate into a more modern Innova than the current model. Also, Toyota will be chopping its length, but this will be compensated with a bigger wheelbase. The new Innova is expected to be loaded with features in order to enhance its value-for-money quotient.
Toyota Innova Hycross launch timeline
We have discussed everything except its launch timeline. Toyota, on its part, hasn’t confirmed anything, but it is expected to see a launch here by the end of this year. According to reports, Toyota might launch the new Innova before Diwali. This would be the perfect time to introduce the new Innova as most buyers purchase a new car during this time.
