Before the Contessa, HM is expected to revive the Ambassador. Now, how will HM do it? The push for Ambassador comes from the French brand Peugeot. Peugeot had bought the rights to Ambassador from Hindustan Motors in 2017 for Rs 80 crores. According to reports, the design and mechanical bits of the engine are already in the advanced stages of development. The car will be more of a makeover than a revolutionary design change. When will it come? The upcoming Ambassador could see the light of the day by 2023 or 2024.

Aside from the new Ambassador & Contessa, HM has ambitious plans for the future. HM is currently in talks with an undisclosed European company for a joint venture to develop EVs. First, they will be entering the two-wheeler segment and then the four-wheeler segment. The initial investment is estimated to be around Rs 300-400 crores.
