New-generation Maruti Alto

The Maruti Suzuki Alto is one of the top-selling entry-level hatchbacks in India. Many people buy the Alto as their first car because of its easy ownership characteristics. The new-generation Alto is expected to launch this year. It is expected to retain the same 796cc ‘K’ series engines which the current-generation Alto. We also expect this generation to bring back with it the 998cc engine. It is also expected to come paired with CNG kit on both engines. The new-generation Maruti Alto could be priced somewhere between Rs 3 lakhs to Rs 5 lakhs for all variants (ex-showroom).

Upcoming cars under Rs 5 lakhs – MG E230

The MG e230 might be the first electric vehicle that could launch in India for under Rs 5 lakhs (ex-showroom). It will be a very compact, two-door, four-seater mini car. Being compact, it is expected to be very easy to drive in city traffic. It is expected to come out as a good option to consider over a bike for daily commutes. The strongest highlight of this car would be its aggressive pricing.

Upcoming Cars under Rs 5 lakhs – Renault Kwid K-ZE

The Renault Kwid K-ZE would come based on the current generation Kwid if Renault decides to bring it here. The global version makes 43bhp & 125Nm of torque. The 26.8kWh battery pack takes 4 hours to fully charge from its 6.6kW AC charger. With fast DC charging, it charges from 30 percent to 80 percent in half-an-hour. It is expected to offer 200 km range on a single charge. The Renault K-ZE has the potential to become a successful product in the Indian market given Renault takes care of (heavy) localisation and manages to place it around the Rs 5 lakh mark (ex-showroom).
