Maruti Alto is one of the most successful affordable hatchbacks in India. This car was launched as a successor to the iconic Maruti 800. Many people buy this car due to the price that Maruti offers it at. However to keep the pricing low, Maruti skips many features to keep it more affordable for buyers. Now, the Maruti Alto is soon set to get a generation update. In this article, we have mentioned five features we would love to see on the new generation of Maruti Alto.

1.0-litre engine

New Maruti Alto Features

Alto K10 used to get a 1.0-litre petrol engine, however Maruti discontinued the Alto K10 in April 2020. Maruti is all set to launch the new Alto. We wish it comes with a 1.0-litre engine that the new Celerio gets. This engine if made available would make 66bhp & 89Nm of torque.

AMT gearbox

New Maruti Alto Features

Maruti Alto only gets a five-speed manual gearbox. Previously, Maruti used to offer an AMT gearbox with its K10 petrol engine. But after this engine was discontinued, they stopped offering an automatic gearbox. We wish Maruti offers an AMT gearbox with the Alto.

Digital Instrument Cluster

New Maruti Alto Features

The Alto gets a semi-digital instrument panel with an analogue speedometer. Other information like fuel level indicator, odometre, and two trip metres are available in the digital unit. This looks very outdated. Maruti can give it a digital backlit instrument cluster as we see in the Maruti S-Presso and the Renault Kwid. This would help Alto look modern from the inside.

New Maruti Alto Features – Hill hold assist

New Maruti Alto Features

Hill Start Assist is a feature that helps you drive from halt on incline surfaces. It helps to stop your car from rolling back when you release the brakes on a hill by holding the brake pressure. Maruti recently added it in the new Celerio. We expect that we might see it in the new generation Alto as well.

New Maruti Alto Features – Idle engine start-stop

New Maruti Alto Features

Idle engine start-stop is a feature Maruti recently added to its all-new cars. Through this feature, your car automatically turns off when idle and silently starts when the optimal conditions (pressing the clutch or brake) are met in manual and automatic transmissions. This feature helps in reducing fuel consumption and increasing mileage. We expect Maruti to add this feature in the new Alto to improve its fuel-efficiency.
