MG has been quick to gain attention in India. All credit goes to its well-planned strategy for the country. The brand was fast in its planning to touch new as well as not-so-crowded segments. However, their debut model was the Hector which came in to steal show from a product like the Tata Harrier. Now, it is going to get a facelift very soon. What updates will it get to become a more difficult rival to compete with? In this article, we have mentioned all the updates we expect from the 2022 MG Hector facelift.

Design updates

There might not be any major changes in terms of the design language of this car although some cosmetic updates can anyhow be expected. New set of alloy wheels and slightly tweaked design elements could be used to give the Hector facelift a fresh look. However, it might continue getting the same front grille.

Interior

We expect to see some significant changes to the interior this time around. New leather upholstery could be one addition to it. Currently, this mid-size SUV comes with a 10.4-inch vertically-placed touchscreen, which is one of the biggest touchscreen infotainment systems in its segment. However, the UI still needs to be improved as it is a bit laggy which can be a turn-off sometimes. So, MG might improve its UI. Moreover, a fully-digital instrument cluster inside might be added to the Hector this time around.

New Features

ADAS is quickly becoming a new norm in the Indian market. New products like Mahindra XUV700 and MG Astor get the level 2 ADAS technology. Considering how important the Hector is to MG, we expect the brand to add this feature. The possibility increases even further since the Astor gets ADAS already. The personal assistant from the Astor could also be added to the Hector. facelift

2022 MG Hector – Engine Options

The MG Hector comes with both 1.5-litre petrol and 2.0-litre diesel engines. Both the engines are mated with a six-speed manual gearbox but the petrol engine is offered with an automatic (CVT & DCT) gearboxes as well. All the cars in this segment come with an automatic gearbox on their diesel engine. So we expect MG to offer an automatic gearbox with its diesel engine. The Hector also comes with a 1.5-litre hybrid petrol engine that comes mated to a manual gearbox only.

2022 MG Hector – Prices

We expect the prices to be hiked by a margin of approximately by Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lakhs. So, the MG facelift is expected to start somewhere around Rs 17 lakhs (on-road, Mumbai) and the top trim might go up to Rs 26 lakhs (ex-showroom).
