Citroen’s Carens Ertiga competition coming after the C3!
Citroen is a well-established French automaker that made its debut in the country last year. It is still fairly new in the Indian market. The C5 Aircross was their first product. Their next product which has been awaiting a launch is the C3 hatchback. Looking at the current market, brands know that there is not much competition in the MPV segment. Maruti Ertiga leads the segment and Kia recently launched the Carens, which is catching up with good sales figures. Citroen might be looking to seek this opportunity next and could launch the Berlingo MPV in India. In this article, we have listed all the things we can expect from the Citroen Carens Ertiga competition.
Design
Citroen Berlingo won’t look like the regular MPVs that we are used to seeing in India. Rather, it would be a van by body shape just like some cars from the past such as the Renault Lodgy and Nissan Evalia. It would be long, tall, and spacious, making it comfortable for the occupants. From the front, it would carry on a similar Citroen family design. It would get rear sliding doors for easy ingress and egress.
Engine options
Well, it is quite early to comment anything about the engine options. Currently, there is only one engine used by Citroen in India and that is a 2.0-litre diesel unit. And we already know that the C3 hatchback would be running on the 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine. So, if Citroen plans to launch the Berlingo in India, they might have to use a new engine since the 1.3-litre turbo-unit might not be enough to power the Berlingo. In fact, the Berlingo was spotted testing with a 1.5-litre unit during its earlier test runs and this engine could be the one perfect for India. However, only time will tell which engine makes its way here. What do you think should come?
Citroen Carens Ertiga competition – Features
The competition in this segment has grown very well after the launch of the Kia Carens. Currently, it is the most feature-rich MPV in its segment. Citroen too might be able to bring up many features to give a tough fight in the competition. They might use a big touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, steering mounted controls, electric sunroof, fully-digital instrument cluster and quite a few other features too.
Citroen Carens Ertiga competition – Price and launch
Nothing is concrete regarding the Citroen Berlingo’s launch in India. However, if they plan to launch this MPV in India, they must keep the pricing very aggressive since the Carens has started redefining the segment. If Citroen manages to price the Berlingo somewhere between Rs 9 lakh to Rs 15 lakhs (ex-showroom), it might hit good sales figures.
