The Hector was MG’s first car in India. It laid a good foundation for the brand and that clearly shows in the MG’s other launches like the Astor, ZS EV and Gloster. But now, Hector is facing stiff competition from the Mahindra XUV700 and Tata Safari. For context, MG sold 2,019 units of the Hector in April. In comparison, XUV700 had 6,040 sales and Safari had 2,227. So, MG will soon be giving the Hector a major update to increase its sales. In today’s article, we will discuss how MG Hector sales will increase.

Digital instrument cluster

Currently, the MG Hector comes with a semi-digital instrument cluster. This cluster is good, but MG should give it a fully digital instrument cluster. Digital clusters are easier to read than analogue clusters and offer more data in a quick sight.

Diesel automatic

The Hector comes with petrol and diesel options. But an automatic gearbox is only offered on the petrol engine. Even with the upcoming emission norms, diesel engines are the prefered choice in this segment. So, MG should add a diesel automatic gearbox to the Hector lineup since the competition already offers this.

Advanced Driver Assistance System

Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) is a collection of enhanced safety feature. Hector’s biggest rival, the XUV700, comes with ADAS functionality. So, MG will be looking to add ADAS on the Hector. Like the Astor, MG will offer level 2 ADAS with Hector. Last year, we spotted an MG Hector testing with ADAS, which you can read by clicking on the link below.

MG Hector sales – Personal assistant

MG cars are known for their thesegment-first and segment-leading features. We think MG will give Hector a personal assistant similar to the Astor. The personal assistant is capable of finding location and various information while driving. It can also take commands, search Wikipedia & tell jokes, etc. to keep the occupants engaged and entertained.

MG Hector sales – Better infotainment system

The Hector has one of the biggest infotainment systems in the market. It comes with a 10.4-inch system that is placed vertically like a tablet. But the UI is not the best, as it is laggy and unresponsive at times. MG should give it an improved UI to fully utilise the screen size.
