Due to this, airbags might not open in cases of emergency. The bull bars can even cause severe damage during an accident. So, one must avoid adding bullbars to their car.
Bull Bars illegal – Reduces mileage
Bull bars are generally heavy. So, getting a bull bar might add up the overall weight of the car. As the weight increases, the mileage decreases. Due to this, a car with a bull bar will return lower fuel-efficiency.
Law and fine
The use of bull bars is prohibited under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988. It states “In many cases, the bull bars obstruct the sensors installed on the car and affect the deployment of airbags at the time of the collision. It has proved to be risky in several accidents where the airbags failed to deploy.” Govt issues warning for vehicles running bull bars or crash guards will have to pay Rs. 5000 fine if caught.
