The sedan market has been quite inactive for the past few years. But Skoda’s recent launch, the Slavia has reignited the segment. Volkswagen is also entering this segment soon with its Virtus. It has already unveiled the Virtus with a price reveal set to be done in the upcoming months. So in today’s article, we will be discussing our price expectations of the Volkswagen Virtus.

Volkswagen Virtus price and variants

Volkswagen has said that it will be pricing Virtus competitively. Volkswagen is expected to follow the same pricing strategy as it did with the Kushaq and Taigun. The Slavia is priced from Rs 10.69 lakh and goes to Rs 17.79 lakh (ex-showroom). Virtus will most probably be 10-50k more expensive than Virtus. The GT variant should be around Rs 18.50 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Virtus is based on the sixth-generation Polo. So it gets sleek looking headlamps with L-shaped DRLs. It comes with a VW’s traditional two slate grille. Below them, we have sporty bumpers. The side profile is identical to the Slavia. At the rear, it gets wrap-around tail lamps that extend into the tailgate. The Virtus also gets simple but practical looking interiors.

The Virtus shares its engine options with the Taigun and Slavia. The first engine is the 1.5-litre TSI capable of producing 148bhp & 250Nm of torque. This engine is expected to be offered with the DSG gearbox only. The other engine is a 1.0-litre TSI capable of producing 113bhp & 178Nm of torque. Transmission options for this unit would include a manual and a torque converter gearbox.

VW has provided a lot of features in the Virtus. It gets features like a 10.1-inch infotainment system, a fully digital instrument cluster, an electric sunroof, wireless charging, and connected car technology. Safety features include TPMS, six airbags and automatic headlamps & wipers.
