Tata Motors has contributed a lot to the growth of the EV space in our country. It has enjoyed the early-movers advantage and it is looking to further this advantage. In the meantime, other manufacturers like Mahindra are also making their moves. Mahindra is working on its Born EV plan. In today’s article, we will see Tata’s new EV plan to take on Mahindra.

Tata recently unveiled its new electric concept the Tata Curvv. It is the first concept after which Tata is targeting to launch 5 to 6 EVs in the coming five years. By 2026, Tata is targeting a bigger EV portfolio than its ICE portfolio. The company is investing Rs 75,000 crores in a new company to develop and manage electric cars. This new company is Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Limited. The company will leverage all existing investments and capabilities of Tata Motors and channelise them into future vehicles. It will develop dedicated BEV platforms and advanced automotive technologies.

We expect Tata to bring EV avatars of its existing cars and also new standalone electric vehicles. As of now, Tata’s next EV will be the long-range Nexon. Then the brand is expected to launch Altroz EV, Punch EV, Tiago EV in a phased manner. Then we can expect the production-spec, Tata Curvv. With this, Tata will also be developing its new Sigma platform. The Sierra EV will be a ground-up EV based on this platform.
