Maruti planning to launch two new Rs 8 lakh SUVs

SUVs have quickly become the new rage in India. Maruti has for a long time had just one SUV in the form of the Brezza. But seeing the growth of the SUV segment, it is looking to bring in more SUVs. The recent success of the Punch has spurred Maruti to target this segment of SUVs as well. Maruti is now planning to launch two new Rs 8 lakh SUVs. In today’s article, we find out more about these.

YTB

It is no secret that Maruti is working on an SUV to compete with the Tata Punch. This new SUV is codenamed the YTB. Design-wise, it is expected to take design elements from the Baleno. It will get a tall-boy design to give it an SUV-like look. It will get the same engine options as the Baleno. So we can expect the 1.2-litre DualJet VVT engine. Transmission options will include manual and automatic options. It is expected to come loaded with features to take on the Tata Punch. The car is expected to be launched in 2023.

Rs 8 lakh Maruti SUVs- Swift Sport based SUV

There are reports that Suzuki is working on an SUV based on the Swift Sport. The Swift Sport is a more powerful version of the Swift that Suzuki sells outside India. This new SUV will get typical SUV elements like high ground clearance, big wheel arches and large bumpers. It is expected to come with 1.4-litre turbo petrol with an AWD option. Suzuki is expected to call it the Swift Cross. There is no official confirmation from Maruti if it will come to India, but we can expect it to compete with the Tata Punch.
