Rs 30 lakh Fortuner rival coming soon?
Toyota Fortuner is leading the full-size SUV market in India. Now, a new Chinese manufacturer, Great Wall Motors has plans to debut in India very soon. They might enter the Indian market with their Haval H9, a seven-seater, full-size SUV. It would have to face big competition from the market leader, the Toyota Fortuner. In this article, we will know what GWM Haval H9 will offer against the Fortuner in India.
GWM H9 India – Looks and Dimensions
The Haval H9 is a big full-size SUV which looks boxy and old-school. It offers a muscular road presence with a tail-mounted spare wheel at the rear. At the front, it gets a big, wide grille, LED headlamps with integrated DRLs, etc. to give out a premium feel. It measures 4,856mm long, 1,926mm wide, 1,900mm height with a wheelbase of 2,800mm and ground-clearance of 206mm. It is a big SUV compared to the Fortuner.
Interior and Features
The Haval H9 is a feature-loaded SUV. It comes with features like six airbags, front & rear parking sensors, ABS with EBD, rear camera, traction control, hill ascent & descent control, an electronic parking brake, panoramic sunroof, heated wipers, automatic headlamps, heated steering, three-zone climate control, etc. It gets ADAS features as well.
GWM H9 India – Engine specifications
In China, the Haval H9 runs on a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that produces 218bhp & 324Nm of torque. This engine is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission as standard. If it launches in India, the company might bring it with a diesel option as well to cope with the competition.
Pricing and conclusion
We expect that it might be launched in India at a competitive pricing of Rs 25 lakhs (ex-showroom). It will compete with the Toyota Fortuner, the Mahindra Alturas G4 and the MG Gloster in that segment. It is not certain that the Haval H9 might launch in India. This car was showcased at the Auto Expo 2020. We hope that GWM launches the Haval H9 very soon in India.
