Tata Motors new SUV lineup has contributed a lot to its revival in the sales chart. But in the past too, it has had iconic SUVs like the Sumo, Sierra & Safari. The Sierra was an iconic product for Tata Motors in India. It was the first SUV designed and produced in India. Tata had to discontinue it in 2003 to make way for newer models. But now Tata seems to be working on bringing a modern version of Sierra in its EV form. It is expected to be launched in 2024, but Tata can fast track and launch it in 2023. In today’s article, we will see how Tata will launch the Sierra EV in 2023.

How will Tata do it?

Tata is building an electric-only Sigma model for its future electric vehicles. The Sigma platform is based on the existing X4 or Alpha architecture but is heavily modified for electrification. Tata Motors is re-engineering the platform around the battery pack to avoid any compromises. This platform will help Tata fastrack the development of the Sierra EV. Still, there is no official confirmation from Tata Motors regarding the Sierra EV, but there have been some strong rumours about its development.

The Sierra EV will surely get a bigger powertrain than the Nexon EV. Still considering the fact that EV tech is still developing, it is hard to figure out the exact specifications of the Sierra EV. It is expected to get a powerful motor with a bigger battery pack.
