Tata to enter this new segment in 2023
Tata has a good hold of the electric vehicle market in India. Tata, in a short span of time, has captured over 70% of the EV market. The top-selling electric car in India is the Nexon EV. Tata Motors now set to enter the premium hatchback segment with its upcoming Altroz EV in 2023. In today’s article, we will take a look at the Altroz EV and discuss what it will have on offer.
Design and Platform
The 2023 Tata Altroz EV will be a five-seater premium electric hatchback. It will carry on the same design as the regular Altroz with some minor tweaks done to the exterior like the blue accents and a closed front grille. The Altroz EV will use Tata’s new ALFA-Arc platform. The ALFA-Arc means ‘Agile Light Flexible Advanced Architecture’. The cars built on this platform are safe and have consistently scored good ratings in the Global NCAP crash test. The Altroz is already a five-star rated car. So, the Altroz EV will be another safe electric car from Tata.
Motor and Battery
The Altroz EV will come powered by the brand’s Ziptron technology powered by a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor mated with a single-speed gearbox. The range of the Altroz EV is expected to lie somewhere between 250km to 300km on a full charge. The battery will take 60 minutes to charge from 0%-80% on a DC fast charger.
2023 Tata Altroz EV – Price
The Altroz EV will be priced slightly premium than the normal Altroz. It will be placed between the Tata Tigor EV and the Tata Nexon EV. The Altroz EV will launch at a price between Rs 12 lakhs to Rs 15 lakhs (ex-showroom).
2023 Tata Altroz EV – Competition
The Tata Altroz EV does not have any competition as of now. At the price that it will be launched in the market, it will only rival its two other siblings, the Tigor EV and the Nexon EV.
