The Creta is one of the best selling SUVs in India. Since its launch in 2015, it has continued to rake in good sales. A lot of new cars have tried to dethrone the Creta but have failed to create the same effect. The only genuine competition it faced was from its Korean cousin, the Kia Seltos. As a product, the Creta still sells like hot cake, resulting in long waiting periods. So, even if you have booked the Creta, you can wait for these upcoming Creta competition cars.

Toyota C-segment car

Creta waiting period

Toyota is looking to expand its product portfolio in India. It is working with Maruti to launch a car that can compete with the Hyundai Creta. The car will be manufactured by Toyota, so it will carry a lot of Toyota’s characteristics. It will be powered by Maruti’s 1.5-litre engine paired with a hybrid system from Toyota. Toyota will load it with premium features to attract customers.

As mentioned above, Toyota and Maruti are working on Creta-competition SUV. As the SUV will be manufactured by Toyota, Maruti will only give it some design changes to differentiate the two cars. This will be similar to what Toyota does with Maruti cars like the Vitara Brezza and Baleno. We expect Maruti to offer fewer features than Toyota but price the car more aggressively.

New-generation Renault Duster

The Renault Duster created the C-SUV segment when it was launched back in 2012. The Duster raked in good sales for Renault, but it never got any major update since its launch. Finally, Renault has stopped the production of the Duster. We can now expect Renault to launch the new-generation Duster it sells globally. The new-generation will get an updated design and much-needed features to take on the Creta.

Next-generation Mahindra XUV500

Mahindra has sidelined the XUV500 nameplate to launch the XUV700. But Mahindra has plans to bring back the XUV500 as a C-segment SUV. It will get an aggressive design language like the Mahindra XU700. Mahindra will load it with features to attract customers. Mahindra will also try to bring a five-star-rated car considering their recent launches.

Tata is also planning to bring a car to take on the Creta. There have been rumours that this car will be an extended version of Nexon with a coupe-like design. Tata is also developing a 1.5-litre petrol engine specifically for this car. Blackbird will mostly come with an ‘Impact 3.0’ design language. This Tata Creta competition is expected to be launched in 2023-24.
