The SUV we are about to discuss may seem quite outdated at present, but was immensely popular just a few months back. The SUV was mainly responsible for creating the C-SUV segment in India. The Renault Duster was a car that was popular before BS6 norms were implemented. In this article, we will discuss five reasons why people loved the Renault Duster before the BS6 emission norms came into place.

The Renault Duster was available in various petrol and diesel engine combinations before BS6. The diesel engine in the Renault Duster was available with manual and AMT gearbox. Renault offered a 1.5-litre dCi diesel engine in the Duster that used to produce 108bhp & 248Nm of torque.

Renault Duster with All-Wheel Drive

Back then, the Renault Duster was available in a diesel variant that had an all-wheel-drive system. The car was an excellent off-roader and was capable of handling any kind of road. The 1.5-litre dCi diesel engine came with a six-speed manual gearbox coupled with an all-wheel-drive variant of the Duster.

Spacious

The Duster was also known for its spacious cabin and boot space. The SUV offered a 475-litre boot space. The seats were comfortable and good enough for long-distance driving. The interior of the car also has decent storage spaces to store bottles and basic things while traveling. The cabin of the Duster was airy with wide windows.

Rugged Design

The Duster had a very aggressive and rugged design. The car was known for its SUV-styled design. The road presence and attention the Duster still grabs is incomparable to any recent SUV. The car became instantly popular when it was launched because of its design and SUV stance.

Ride and Handling

Renault cars are known for their ride and handling quality. The Duster is no exception and has great ride and handling. The suspension setup was amazing and the car could just glide over bad roads. The Duster had good steering feedback as well. All-in-all, driving the Duster was pure fun.

The car has been the same for over a decade and soon needs an update to regain its popularity. If you have car buying doubts click here to ask! Get the lowest price for car insurance here. • I own a renault Duster RXL 85 PS Diesel 2014 model. All what is mentioned above is absolutely right. Although when i bought, AWD was not available and I so regret buying it a bit early.

The driving comfort is superb and as correctly mentioned that it glides through bumps so smoothly. Although, I am not very convinced about its steering wheel performance. It is hard at a slow speed too and this was the only issue that I faced with it.

A car with so much space and excellent fuel efficiency at that price is really worth every penny. Boot space has won my heart as well as others during our long trips. it has never let me down in any sense.

Now that I am looking for new car, not because I am bored of it but due to diesel car norm in Delhi NCR, wish if somebody can suggest how can i retain this.

Indeed, Duster badly needs an upgrade otherwise it will be ‘Dusted’.
