The new-generation Volkswagen Polo will get the new Volkswagen family look. The overall looks will be simple however with some added modern bits like sharp LED DRLs and sleek headlamps & sleek taillamps. The global version of the new Polo exceeds the four-metre length, however in India, the Polo will be kept under four-metres to avoid added taxation.

Engine and Chassis

The new-generation Polo will be built upon the MQB A0 IN platform on which the Volkswagen Taigun is based as well. Under the hood, it can get the 1.0-litre TSI turbo petrol-engine that we get to see in the Taigun. The 1.0-litre MPi engine is expected to be retained for the lower variants, however, we expect the engine to undergo re-tuning in order to make more power.

Interior and Features

The current-generation Volkswagen Polo has not got any update for a very long time. It looks very outdated from the interior. The new-generation car will get all modern features that it misses out on in the current-generation. The dashboard will get an all-new infotainment system with wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay. It will also get connected car tech. The steering wheel will be three-spoke with the controls mounted on it. It will get a fully-digital instrument cluster as well. The dashboard will look similar to the Taigun’s dashboard. Now, it is ready to compete with modern cars in the market.

Price and Competition

We expect the new-generation Polo to launch somewhere around Rs 7 lakhs (ex-showroom). The hatchback will compete with the new Maruti Baleno, upcoming new Toyota Glanza, the Hyundai i20, and the Tata Altroz.
