Hatchbacks have always been the popular choice in India. They are preferred due to their compact dimensions, making them very practical in our cities. The Maruti Baleno is one of the best selling hatchbacks. It is known for its reliable engine and premium design but the Baleno will be soon facing competition from the Citroen C3. The C3 follows Citroen’s quirky design language. At the front, it gets spilt DRL set up integrating into the grille with the Citroen logo in the middle. The side profile houses a lot of curvy bits and the bumpers carry contrasting coloured accents.

The C3 continues the quirky design language in the interiors. It gets a coloured dashboard with a big floating touchscreen in the middle. Citroen has also provided space to attach a mobile holder. The three-spoke steering wheel is taken from the C5 Aircross. The seats come with fixed headrests. 

Specifications

The C3 is based on Citroen’s Common Modular Platform (CMP). The Citroen is 3.98m in length with a 10m turning circle and 315-litre boot space. C3 is expected to be powered by a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine. It will come with manual and automatic transmission options. The C3 is unlikely to get a diesel engine option.

Citroen will be loading the C3 with features to take on the established players in the segment. It comes with features like a 10.1-inch infotainment system, wireless charging, wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay and a fully-digital instrument cluster. 

Pricing and launch

Citroen has done a lot of localisation on the C3, so we expect the brand to price it competitively. The pricing of the C3 is expected to start from Rs 6 lakh (ex-showroom). Considering the launch, Citroen has already unveiled the design and some details. So we can expect a proper launch in Q1 of 2022.
