Genesis G80 luxury sedan spotted in India – Launch soon?
Hyundai is known for its premium-yet-affordable cars all over the world. But Hyundai also has its Genesis brand that steps into the luxury segment, competing with famous luxury carmakers. Earlier reports had suggested that Hyundai is considering the Genesis brand for India, but that has since fizzled out. With that being said, our of our readers, Mr Rehan, has recently spotted a Genesis G80 luxury sedan in India. In today’s article, we will have a look at this Genesis G80 spotted in India.
What was spotted?
A Genesis G80 was spotted in Worli, Mumbai. The G80 is one of the most premium sedans from Genesis in the market today. The spotted car doesn’t have a number plate. We believe that it is the same car that was brought to India along with a few others to showcase to the dealers to gauge their interest. Considering the car has not been camouflaged, it is unlikely that it is undergoing testing.
A brief history of Genesis
Genesis is the luxury vehicle division of Hyundai Motors. It became an independent brand in 2015. Genesis has its headquarters based in Seoul, South Korea. Genesis models are exclusively manufactured in South Korea and then exported throughout the world. It currently sells three sedan models, three SUV models and one electric model.
What all does the G80 get?
Currently, the G80 is in its second-generation. Genesis launched it in March of 2020. Dimensions wise, the G80 is a big car with a length of 4995mm, a width of 1925mm and a height of 1465mm. Globally it comes with two petrol engines; a 2.5-litre I4 and a 3.5-litre V6 engine. It also gets a 2.2-litre diesel engine. Genesis also makes an electric version of the G80 called the Electrified G80. The G80 comes loaded with luxury features like a Lexicon sound system, proximity start, coloured heads-up display etc. It also comes with a five-star crash test rating from NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration), USA.
