Should Hyundai Alcazar buyers wait for Kia Carens?

Hyundai and Kia have been aggressive players in India. They have been constantly launching products in various segments. They already have Seltos & Creta under C-SUV segment and Sonet & Venue under compact SUV segment. Earlier this year, Hyundai launched the Alcazar, its premium seven-seater in India. Now Kia has also unveiled their new seven-seater based on the Seltos. So should Hyundai Alcazar buyers wait for Kia Carens in 2022 or should they go forward with Hyundai Alcazar?

Dimensions & space

The Carens is 4540mm in length, 1800mm in width & 1700mm in height. It sits on a wheelbase of 2780mm and has a ground clearance of 195mm. Hyundai Alcazar, on the other hand is 4500mm in length, 1790mm in width & 1675mm in height. The Alcazar sits on a wheelbase of 2760mm and has a ground clearance of 200mm. Dimension-wise, the Carens is bigger in all aspects over the Alcazar. These bigger dimensions will translate into more interior space on the Carens. 

Kia Carens 2022 specifications

The Kia Carens come with two petrol engines and one diesel engine option. A 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated engine, a 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel engine will be on offer. The 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated will only be offered with a manual gearbox. The other two engines will offer manual as well as automatic gearbox options. Coming to the Alcazar, it comes with the same 1.5-litre diesel engine. The only difference is that Alcazar comes with a 2.0-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine that is capable of producing 157bhp and 191Nm of torque.

Features

Both the cars come loaded with features. The Carens will offer features like a 10.25-inch infotainment system, 64-colour ambient lighting, ventilated front seats, air purifier, an electric sunroof, Bose audio system, spot lamp and automatic climate control. Kia will also offer six airbags, ESC, ABS with EBD, hill-start assists, TPMS as standard.   

The Alcazar however offers some extra features like a panoramic sunroof, paddle shifters, blind spot monitor and a fully-digital instrument cluster.

So should you wait Kia Carens in 2022?

You should DEFINITELY wait for the Kia Carens as it offers almost everything that the Alcazar has to offer, barring some features like a panoramic sunroof. Apart from these, the Carens is bigger than the Alcazar which will surely translate in offering more space inside the cabin. It is also expected to be cheaper than the Alcazar which will directly enhance its value for money quotient.
