Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 Spotted – Are you excited?
Royal Enfield is a brand in the motorcycle world that needs no introduction. The thumping engine sound is music for motorcycle lovers. Recently, at the Milan Motorcycle Show (EICMA), Royal Enfield had teased a new motorcycle. This concept motorcycle the Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 showed the same 650cc engine that the brand offers on the Continental GT650 and the Interceptor 650. They called this motorcycle the SG650 later revealed to be the Royal Enfield Shotgun 650. Just a few days ago, the production-ready version of the SG650 or the Shotgun650 was spotted in a video posted by Royal Enfield on their official YouTube channel. What the video showed us
The recent video posted by Royal Enfield on their official YouTube channel talks about the Royal Enfield Himalayan being modified for a journey to the South Pole. For the last two years, the brand has been testing the Himalayan in Iceland for this adventurous journey called the 90 South Expedition. In this video, Dean Coxson talks about getting ready for the expedition. We get a glimpse of the Shotgun650 at 0:34 seconds mark in the video while Dean is describing his work profile.
Royal Enfield Shot Gun 650 Design
The motorcycle gets a rounded headlamp with wide handlebars and alloy wheels. The single-seat bobber style design is quite evident even though the bike is visible for just a couple of seconds. The engine is also noticeable and resembles the one that is currently seen on the Continental GT 650 and the Interceptor 650. The fuel tank looks sleek and stylish.
Engine
The Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 will be powered by a 648cc air–and–oil–cooled engine that produces 47bhp and 52Nm of torque. This engine is mated to a six-speed gearbox. Currently the same engine powers the Continental GT 650 and the Interceptor 650. This is a parallel-twin engine from the Royal Enfield and has been quite successful in the mid-sized (500cc and above) category.
Features
The Royal Enfield Shotgun650 is expected to be the Flagship bike from the brand. Therefore Royal Enfield will make this bike feature-loaded and there are no second thoughts about it. The concept bike showcased had a twin-disc brake setup at the front. The bike will get full LED headlamps, LED indicators, a fully digital instrument cluster, and a tripper navigation system. The overall design and styling of the bike are going to be very aggressive and muscular. The bobber-style single-seat makes this bike look unique and stand out in the crowd. We also expect the Shotgun650 to come with dual-channel AVS and slipper clutch.
