Toyota is getting ready to enter a segment that it has not yet explored in India. Toyota is planning to bring a pick-up the Hilux. The Hilux is a pickup truck with the underpinning of the Fortuner. The Hilux will be using the same platform that is used by the Fortuner. The design language and cabin will carry a glimpse of the Fortuner. The Hilux will be offered with 2WD and 4WD options. The introduction of a pickup truck like Hilux will create a stir in the pick-up segment. This could also set a trend for other car makers who are currently hesitant to bring their pickup trucks to India. The Toyota Hilux will be the next upcoming car from Toyota. The Hilux is expected to launch in India next month.

The Corolla Cross is a C-segment SUV from Toyota. This SUV sits between C-HR and RAV-4 in Toyota’s global lineup of SUVs. The Corolla Cross is currently manufactured in Japan, Thailand, Taiwan, Brazil, South Africa, Malaysia, China, and the United States of America. The SUV has been a popular car in South Africa. The SUV borrows interiors from the Corolla sedan. Once launched in India, the Toyota Corolla Cross will compete with other SUVs like the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. This SUV is also expected to be launched in India around the second half of 2022.

Toyota has filed a patent in India in the name of Ayga. This hatchback from Toyota could compete against the Maruti Celerio, Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS, and Tata Altroz. If Toyota enters the hatchback segment with a new product like the Agya, it could surely cause a dent in the sales figures of its competitors.

Toyota RAV4

Toyota RAV4 has been spotted on multiple occasions undergoing testing on Indian roads. The car is based on Toyota’s TNGA platform that underpins the brand’s latest cars available in foreign markets. In India, it only underpins the Toyota Camry as of now. The RAV4 is available in petrol and petrol hybrid versions in the global markets. We expect Toyota to get both versions for sale in India. Currently, Toyota Camry is the only petrol hybrid offered in India. This will add more products to Toyota’s hybrid vehicle portfolio in India.

Toyota Belta

Similarly, Toyota will be rebadging the Maruti Ciaz as Belta and selling it under their brand. After Toyota Yaris was discontinued, the new sedan, Toyota Belta will be its replacement in India. The Toyota Belta will be similar to Maruti Ciaz but with some minor changes here and there.
