Maruti Baleno facelift to get segment first features
Maruti Baleno is one of the most successful premium hatchbacks available in the market today. New entrants in this segment offer modern features, multiple engine & transmission options, but still fail to compete with Baleno’s popularity and sales figures. Maruti launched the Baleno back in 2015 and till date, the car has just received a facelift back in 2019. With six years already on the product, Maruti is finally bringing a new facelift of the Baleno very soon. In this article, we will discuss what Maruti will offer with this new Baleno facelift.
Maruti Baleno facelift – New Exterior Design
The Baleno facelift is expected to get newly designed exteriors. The front fascia will sport newly designed headlamps, new front & rear bumpers, newly designed alloy wheels and a new front grille. The rear will also get a new set of tail lamps. The dimensions of the car are not expected to change. Maruti might include new colours for the Baleno while retaining its signature Nexa Blue colour.
Maruti Baleno facelift – New Interior
The Baleno facelift will get redesigned interiors as well. A new dashboard layout, new seating & upholstery and a new floating touchscreen infotainment system will give the Baleno a much-needed modern look. The new infotainment unit will support wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay as well. Rear AC vents, fast charging ports and a fully digital instrument cluster are also expected to be included in this facelift.
Safety Features and Convenience
Maruti Baleno is a car that gets all the necessary features that a buyer might ask for. However, with new changes in technology & trends, buyers are constantly looking for more advanced features. Wireless charging is a feature that is currently offered in many cars. Maruti could include this feature in the new Baleno. Maruti could also offer six airbags to improve safety.
Previously, a sporty version of Baleno was available as Maruti Baleno RS. We expect Maruti to revive the RS badge now. Along with the RS badge, Maruti will also have to bring back the Boosterjet engine that was offered in the previous Baleno RS. The currently-available engine options are expected to continue. One thing that could change is the transmission option list. The CVT gearbox might be replaced with an AMT gearbox for the facelift.
Pricing, Booking & Launch
Currently, the base variant of the Maruti Baleno is priced at Rs 6.96 lakh (on-road, Mumbai) and the top-end variant is priced at Rs 10.88 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). We expect Maruti to price the Maruti Baleno facelift somewhere around Rs 55,000 to 75,000 over what it currently sells.
Maruti has opened bookings for the Baleno facelift at Rs 11,000 via dealerships and Nexa website. The launch is expected to be around 23rd February which is just a few days away.
