2 Rs 12 lakh Maruti Ertiga competition cars coming soon

The MPV segment is quite a popular segment in India. But surprisingly it doesn’t have many cars in it. Currently, Maruti rules this segment with its Ertiga and XL6. The Ertiga is especially popular, raking in over 10,000 units every month. But Hyundai and Kia are looking to end Maruti’s dominance in this segment. Both the brands are working on their MPVs. In today’s article, we will see two Rs 12 lakh Maruti Ertiga competition cars coming soon. 

Hyundai Stargazer

Hyundai is working on a MPV codenamed Stargazer. This car has been spotted a lot in the south east Asian markets. This car has only been spotted with camouflage, so we don’t know its exact design. It is expected to get design elements from the Tucson and Bayon. It will come with a modern interior layout and features like other Hyundai cars. Expected features include a premium sound system, big infotainment system, wireless charging etc. Mechanically we don’t know what engines it could get, but most likely, it will come with a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engine. This MPV will be first launched in the Indonesian market before making its way into the Indian market.  

Ertiga competition cars- Kia KY

Kia is working on a 7-seater to take on the Ertiga. It is codenamed KY and is expected to be Carens in the Indian market. Design-wise the KY will take a lot of design elements from the Seltos and Sonet. It will get an aggressive-looking design giving it a more muscular look. Recently we had obtained interior spy shots of the KY showing a digital insturment cluster and a 8/9-inch infotainment system. Other expected feature are a tyre pressure monitoring, premium sound system, wireless charging, 360-degree camera etc. These features will surely give it an edge over the Ertiga. Engine and transmission options are expected to be similar to the Seltos. It will come with a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. The availability of the diesel engine will be a big boost over the Ertiga. Kia will be unveiling the KY globally on 18th December. We expect the Indian launch to happen in the Q1 of 2022.
