Recently Honda launched its new generation BR-V in Indonesia. The BR-V has evolved from being an MPV to a car that looks more like an SUV. During the launch, Honda also teased another SUV that was coming soon. The car will be unveiled at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) on 11 November. In this article, we will discuss this new car from Honda, the ZR-V, and what it has to offer.

The new car from Honda, the ZR-V will be a five-seater that will borrow design and platform from the BR-V. The car will be shorter in length and wheelbase than the BR-V. The ZR-V is expected to be based on the Honda City causing it to be 4.2 metre long car. The Honda ZR-V is also expected to borrow a bonnet, front grille, doors, and A-pillar design language from the Honda BR-V. The roof rails and the headlight design are expected to resemble with the newly launched BR-V.

In the past it has been speculated that Honda will be planning a sub four meter car which will compete in one of the most fierce segments – the compact SUV market. But with those plans scrapped, Honda will now be working on a car that can go up against the Creta, Seltos, Kushaq, Taigun and Astor in the C segment SUV market.

The ZR-V is expected to get the 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine from the Honda City. The 1.5-litre petrol engine produces 120bhp and 145Nm of torque. The engine have already proved their reliability with the Honda City. We also expect the Honda ZR-V to come with a hybrid powertrain which will debut soon and a turbo petrol unit. More importantly we expect Honda to give this car the 1.5-litre diesel, i-DTEC engine which will balance performance and mileage.

The ZR-V is expected to compete with already popular cars in the segment like Hyundai Creta, and Kia Seltos. The pricing of this car will be the deciding factor that will bring sales for this product from Honda. The ZR-V will make its public debut at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) and will be available for sale from 2022. Honda will place this car at a very competitive price point where it will manage to attract buyers who are planning to buy cars from the same segment.
