How will the New Toyota Urban Cruiser be different?
Maruti-Suzuki and Toyota are currently in a joint venture and are collaborating on a lot of vehicles. One such product is the Vitara Brezza and the Urban Cruiser. Currently, both the cars are exactly the same. But Brezza is expected to get a new generation soon. So we expect the Urban Cruiser will also get a generation update. In this new generation, Maruti and Toyota will look to differentiate the two cars. In today’s article, we will discuss how this new Urban Cruiser will be different from the Vitara Brezza.
Why will Toyota do it?
As mentioned above, the current generation Vitara Brezza and Urban Cruiser are identical to each other. In its new generation, Toyota will be looking to differentiate the Urban Cruiser. It will be looking to share the platforms and engines while changing the exterior and interiors looks. This strategy is followed by a lot of cars in the Indian market ( Hyundai Venue- Kia Sonet, Hyundai Creta- Kia Seltos, Renault Kiger- Nissan Magnite).
What will be different
On the exterior, Toyota will look to give it the traditional Toyota look, like a big grille. It will get a different headlamp and tail lamp structure. It will also get new bumpers and fog lamps placed to look different from the Brezza. The rear will also get new bumpers and a different tailgate. In the interiors, the new generation Urban Cruiser will be different. It will get Toyota’s buttons on the dashboard. The layout will be also simpler to go with the practical nature of other Toyota cars. Some other areas where both the cars will be different include boot space and some features.
What will be similar?
As mentioned above, both cars will be based on the same platform. As the new-generation Vitara Brezza will be based on the Heartect platform, the new generation Urban Cruiser will also be based on the same. Engine options will also be shared between both cars. Most probably the cars will get Maruti’s 1.5-litre engine with a mild hybrid system. The cars will also share most of their basic features.
