The Indian car market is a tough one to survive. Carmakers with good planning and a perfect product lineup can be ahead of the competition. Kia is one such carmaker and it’s planning to bring in a seven-seater to India. In this article, we will discuss four unique things that we know about the Kia seven-seater. Also check out below a story where we have spotted the Kia Ertiga competition in India stranded on the road.

Dimensions

The Kia seven-seater is a car that’s stretched and built on Kia’s K2 platform. It’s the same platform that Kia has used to build Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, and Hyundai i20. The dimensions of the car will increase as it’s going to be a seven-seater. The car is expected to be a bit longer than the Maruti Ertiga. This means the Kia seven-seater will be spacious and the third row will be decent enough for two average-sized adults.

Diesel Automatic

The car is expected to get a 1.5-litre CRDi VGT diesel engine that produces 113bhp and 250Nm of torque. The engine will be mated to a six-speed automatic torque converter with paddle shifters and sports mode. The same engine setup is currently available on the Kia sonnet and the engine is quite responsive and makes it fun to drive car. The Sonet with diesel engine claims a mileage of 19kmpl. This car being a seven-seater and bit bigger than the Sonet we can expect a realistic mileage of 15 to 16 kmpl.

Feature-rich

The Kia seven-seater will be a feature-loaded car. The car is expected to come with ventilated seats, a 360-degree camera, a 10.25-inch touch screen infotainment system, dual-zone climate control, wireless charging, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, and connected car technology. The car will also come loaded with safety features like dual airbags, ABS with EBD, traction control, ISOFIX child seat anchors, hill assist, hill descent control, and tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS).

Price

Currently, the seven-seater MPV segment is ruled by Maruti Ertiga. The car is available in petrol and CNG variant. The Kia seven-seater will be a car with a diesel engine and with automatic transmission. To beat the competition Kia will place it at a very affordable price point of Rs 18 lakh (on-road Mumbai). The car seems a complete package when considered based on what it has to offer along with a diesel engine which is currently missing in the Maruti Ertiga.
