Volkswagen working on Baleno Competition?
In India, Maruti is a brand that is known for its affordable and fuel-efficient cars. Maruti Suzuki Baleno is one such car from the brand that’s been consistent when it comes to sales figures in the premium hatchback segment. Volkswagen has its offerings in the form of Polo which also falls in the premium hatchback segment and competes for head-on with the Maruti Suzuki Baleno. The Volkswagen Polo is one of the most loved hatchbacks in India as well as internationally. Volkswagen has recently unveiled its sixth generation of Polo with a facelift. In this article, we will discuss our expectations from the new generation Volkswagen Polo.
Design
The new generation Polo gets newly designed exteriors that seem quite updated. The design of the new generation Polo seems inspired by the Volkswagen Golf that got a design update recently. The car gets an all-new LED strip that’s flows across the front and connects both the headlights. The rear of the car gets tail lights that seem very inspired by other cars from Volkswagen like the Tiguan and the T-Roc. The tweaked bumpers give this car a fresh look. The new generation Polo will be available in eight colors: the single-color ascot grey and pure white, the metallic reflex silver, smoke grey and reef blue, the sporty kings red, the strikingly fresh vibrant violet, and finally the pearl-effect deep black. In addition, the body colors kings red, pure white, reflex silver, and reef blue can be combined with a roof in black color.
Interiors
Along with the exteriors, the interiors of the car have also been updated. The car gets a new steering wheel with multifunction controls, touch-sensitive digital AC controls, and new seats and upholstery. The previously contrasting colors on the interiors have been replaced with a single-tone dashboard. The elements from the previous generation will be continued in this new Polo as well.
Features
The new generation Polo comes loaded with features. The car gets a reworked steering wheel with multifunction controls, a fully digital instrument cluster, wireless charging, a bigger touchscreen infotainment system, dual AC, ORVMs that are electronically adjustable and heated. The car also gets ambient lighting.
Automated Driving (ADAS)
The new generation Polo gets automated driving technology which is called the IQ. DRIVE Travel Assist. This technology brings features like adaptive cruise control and lane assist to the Polo in higher variants. The car gets Lane Assist as a standard feature in all variants.
Safety
The new generation Polo gets an additional centeral airbag for improved protection of passengers in case of collisions. This additional airbag is added to protect the driver and the front passenger who are the first people to face any impact during a collision.
