Newly launched Tata Punch now is a new product from Tata Motors that’s grabbing the attention of buyers who were planning to upgrade from a hatchback to a compact SUV or people who were planning to buy a compact SUV as their first car. In this article, we discuss why you should buy a Tata Punch over Tata Altroz.

Tata Punch

Tata Punch Transmission

Tata Motors is known for introducing an automatic variant later on in a car once it becomes popular. However, with Punch, they have given a five-speed AMT at the time of its launch. So the Punch comes with a five-speed manual and five-speed AMT transmission. While the Altroz only gets a five-speed manual transmission. The car also gets an Altitude Adjusted Tuning Map that is helpful while driving through high altitude terrains the performance of the car remains uncompromised.

Tata Punch Dimensions

The latest offering from Tata looks a bit bigger and taller than the Altroz when it comes to its dimensions. The Punch is 3827mm in length, 1742mm in width, 1615mm in height with a wheelbase of 2445mm, and ground clearance of 187mm. The Punch gets a boot space of 366-litre. Whereas the Altroz is 3990mm in length, 1755mm in width, 1523mm in height with a wheelbase of 2501mm, and ground clearance of 165mm. The Altroz gets a smaller boot space at 345-litre when compared to the Punch. The Punch gets a higher ground clearance of 187mm with an approach angle of 20.3degree, departure angle of 37.6 degrees, and ramp over angle of 22.2degrees. The Punch also gets a 370mm water wading capability as compared to 300mm in other cars. This makes Punch a good car that you can drive in a city or even take off-road.

Tata Punch

Brake Sway Control

The new compact SUV from Tata Motors gets Brake Sway Control along with ABS and EBD as a standard feature. This prevents your car from swaying in case of sudden braking. This is an additional safety feature that improves the driving experience and adds stability.

Tata Punch

Traction Pro Mode

This is an industry-first feature that is included in the AMT variant of Punch. This feature seems like an advanced version of traction control and ESP. This feature comes in handy while driving on roads with low traction surfaces, muddy roads, rural streets with gravel, and rough surfaces.

The only thing missing in the Punch is the rear AC vent that is available in Altroz. So for people who are looking for a feature-loaded car Punch seems to be a better option over Altroz.
