MG Astor unveiled – Many SEGMENT FIRST features
MG has really established itself in the Indian market. It has focused on its SUV lineup launching, cars like the Hector, Gloster and ZS EV. Now it has expanded its SUV lineup further by unveiling the Astor today. MG had already done a short unveiling of the Astor a few weeks before this proper unveiling. In today’s article, we will be looking at this MG Astor unveiled.
Design
The Astor is based upon the ZS EV and takes a lot of styling cues from it. It does get some subtle changes over the ZS EV. At the front, it gets a hexagonal grille with a big MG logo in the middle. Other changes include slimmer LED headlamps and chunkier bumpers. The side profile is the same as the ZS EV. The rear gets LED tail lamps and new bumpers. It also gets new alloy wheel designs. Interiors are more or less similar to the ZS EV, with some minor dashboard and color changes. The Astor will get 3 interior color options – Red, White and Black.
MG Astor unveiled specifications
The Astor comes with two petrol engines a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated and 1.3-litre turbo petrol. The 1.5-litre engine is capable of producing 108bhp and 144Nm of torque. It will get manual and CVT gearbox options. The 1.3-litre turbo petrol will produce 138bhp and 220Nm of torque and will come mated to a 6-speed automatic.
MG Astor unveiled features
MG is loading the Astor with a lot of features. It will come with segment-first features like an Advanced Driver Assistance System (level2) and a personal assistant. Other features will include a 10.1-inch infotainment system, wireless charging, a fully digital instrument cluster and panoramic sunroof. Safety features include multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control and few others.
Pricing
MG has not revealed the pricing of the Astor, but we expect it to start from Rs 10 lakh(ex-showroom). It will compete with cars like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and Skoda Kushaq.
