Maruti Jimny has seen quite some success in markets where it is currently being sold. The affordable off-roader becomes a great option for people who wish to off-road but are on a budget crunch. Although the Jimny comes at an affordable price, it does not miss out on 4WD, meaning you get to enjoy its capabilities. Looking at all the success that the car has received, the brand has unveiled a cheaper variant of the Jimny to draw more customers to this car. The cheaper car is called the Jimny Lite. With a lower variant, there will multiple things that the buyers would have to compromise on since that would be a necessary factor to bring down the costs. What does Maruti Jimny base variant miss out on?

Other than this, the car misses out on alloy wheels and spare wheel cover. Instead of alloys, Jimny Lite gets blacked-out steel rims. The cheaper variant misses out on fog lamps as well as projector headlamps. On the inside, the 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system is replaced with a 2-DIN unit. The 2-DIN unit supports connectivity via USB and Bluetooth. Other than this, the car misses out on cruise control and automatic AC.
What still remains?
The biggest benefit for buyers of this variant that Jimny Lite comes with the same engine that the other variants get. The 1.5-litre petrol unit is retained, which will come mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox and 4WD system. This means that buyers who wish to buy the Jimny just for its raw performance can go for this variant, without having to waste any extra money on features that are not required by them.
Will India get it?
Indian customers have a strong inclination towards value-for-money products. Maruti as a brand had realized that long ago, which has helped it maintain the top spot in the country’s car market share constantly. Maruti when launching the Jimny in the country is mostly expected to keep this variant as the base for this car. People can buy this car just for the performance and can modify & accessorize it according to their taste and preference. However, we would have to wait and see whether Maruti would just be launching the 5-door variant here or would be bringing some special 3-door variants as well.
