With rapid development in technologies, cars can now automatically shift between high beam and normal beam, depending on the presence of other cars on the road. However, Mercedes has taken this a step further. Digital Lights can individually select the specific areas which do not need high projection whereas the other areas still continue to be illuminated with high beam. This is very useful in cases where there are other cars. So, the traffic is saved from blinding lights whereas the driver can still see the rest of the path.
Road-sign & traffic light alert
The Digital Lights can identify ‘STOP’ signs & traffic lights and display a special graphic on the road to indicate this to the driver. This will greatly enhance safety as critical information is sometimes missed in poorly lit areas and the S-Class’ Digital Lights can easily compensate for that.
Guidelines & pedestrian alert
The system can identify the road markings and take them as a reference to process and display data. If a pedestrian is present on the road, the Digital Lights would mark his position, indicating to the driver about his presence. Also, if the road gets narrow, the S-Class would display projection lines to assist the driver in crossing the narrow spot, preventing him from going off-track.
