Mahindra came out with a future plan regarding its cars and their launch timelines a while ago. The brand will be looking to expand its portfolio in the country by entering completely new segments as well as launching new products in the existing segments. The brand has plans to discontinue the currently sold Mahindra XUV500 and re-introduce it as a C-segment SUV which will take on cars like the Hyundai Creta. The Creta has been a really tough nut to crack and Mahindra will try to de-throne the Creta from the top spot. In today’s article, we will discuss this new Rs 12 Lakh Creta competition SUV which is coming next year.
Design & Dimensions
This new Rs 12 Lakh Creta competition SUV will be smaller in dimensions compared to what it is now. The car is expected to be around 4300mm in length, around 1700mm in width and around 1600mm tall. In terms of design, the car is expected to carry forward the bold design of the current XUV500. The light setup on the new car is mostly expected to receive the LED treatment. The car will sport a comfortable and premium cabin as well that will help it take on the Creta. We expect the car to come with leather seating & upholstery that will enhance the upmarket feel of the car.
The car will mostly come sat on Ssangyong Tivoli’s platform. It is expected to come with 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine and 1.5-litre diesel engine options. On the Mahindra XUV300, the petrol engine makes 109bhp & 200Nm of torque and the diesel engine makes 115bhp & 300Nm of torque. The engines will mostly be re-tuned in order to beat the Creta. The car will get 17-inch alloy wheels, similar to other cars that will be in its competition.
Mahindra is expected to give a tough fight to Creta with the features that it could be offered with. Dual-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, a big touchscreen infotainment system, connected car tech, premium sound system, multi-drive modes, ambient lighting, steering modes and 7 airbags could be some of the prominent ones. A semi-digital instrument cluster is also expected with the new XUV500. We expect the Mahindra XUV500 to mostly come with a 5-star safety rating.
As mentioned above, the new XUV500 will be priced competitively in comparison to the Hyundai Creta. Mahindra could very well hit the sweet spot with its tough build quality and multiple segment-first features.
