Skoda Kushaq variant and price expectations
Skoda Kushaq is the next entrant in the C-SUV space. The car will take on products like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Nissan Kicks, Renault Duster and the upcoming Volkswagen Taigun. The car will launch on the 28th of June in the country. Kushaq will be a petrol-only offering from Skoda with the brand keeping its distance from diesel units. The car will come powered by 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol units. The 1.0-litre unit will make 113bhp & 175Nm torque. The 1.5-litre unit will make 148bhp & 250Nm of torque. The 1.0-litre unit will come mated to 6-speed manual and automatic gearboxes. The 1.5-litre unit will come mated to a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DSG gearbox. Variants
Everything that the Kushaq has to offer will be distributed in three variants viz. Active, Ambition and Style. The Active variant will be the base variant, with Ambition being the mid-variant and Style being the top-of-the-line variant. The Active variant will be made available with the 1.0-litre engine which will come mated to the 6-speed manual gearbox. The Ambition variant will be made available with a 1.0-litre engine which will come mated to 6-speed manual and automatic gearbox options. Only the top-of-the-line, Style variant will come with 1.0-litre & 1.5-litre petrol engine option. The 1.0-litre unit will come mated to 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearbox options whereas the 1.5-litre engine will be offered with a 6-speed manual and 7-speed DSG gearbox. Moreover, this variant will receive everything that the car has to offer. Wireless connectivity via Android Auto, Apple Car Play, connected car tech, paddle-shifters, wireless charging, an ambient lighting system, an electric sunroof, a 10.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system and ventilated leather front seats will be some of the many features that the car will come with.
Pricing
Skoda has aimed at 95% localization for the Kushaq. This means that the pricing could be kept very competitive when compared to other cars in the segment. Looking at the competition and its hold on the market, we expect Skoda to price the Kushaq between Rs 9.5 Lakh (ex-showroom) and 16 Lakh (ex-showroom). There might be a Monte Carlo variant that will come later and will be placed above the 3 other variants. We expect that to bee a bit more expensive.
