The Mahindra brand has been putting a lot of focus on developing passenger electric cars for the country for quite some time now. The brand showcased four electric cars in the Auto Expo, with two of them being the eKUV100 and the eXUV300. Both these cars are expected to enter the market soon, with eKUV100 making the entry first. In this article, we will discuss the Mahindra XUV300 electric.

Design

The Mahindra XUV300 electric will be very similar to the XUV300 in terms of the overall design. However, the XUV300 electric will differentiate itself in the details. A closed-grille on the front is expected. A completely reworked headlight which looks borrowed from the future and reworked fog lamps & fog lamp housing which were showcased on the concept however, might not be present on the final product.

The ORVMs were replaced by cameras on the concept, however, cameras getting carried to all variants on the production-spec car is highly unlikely. The cameras might however be offered on the top-most variant of the car but there wont be a skip for the ORVMs. The XUV300 electric will sport new alloy wheels. Also, the car might get blue accents spread all over it to give it the electric-avatar look.

The charging port will be placed on the side closer to the front. The same is seen on the eKUV100 as well. The interior is also expected to receive some changes like a new touchscreen.

The XUV300 electric will be based on the MESMA (Mahindra Electric Scalable and Modular Architecture) platform. The same architecture will underpin the future EVs from the brand.

The XUV300 electric will most likely be offered in two variants; one with lower range and one with higher range. Mahindra is planning to kill two birds with one stone. The lower version variant will be placed against rivals like Nexon EV.

Upcoming Tata mini electric-SUV

The lower variant might offer range of around 350km, whereas the higher variant might offer range figures around the 400km mark. The batteries are being developed by LG Chem in partnership with Mahindra.

Mahindra XUV300 Electric Features

The electric car will get regenerative braking in order to push the range by some extra numbers. Other features like dual zone climate control, sunroof and connected car will be common between the electric and gasoline-powered XUV300.
