Volkswagen has planned multiple products for the country this year which will be launching in the coming time. Some of them will be old products coming in new avatars and some would be products that are completely fresh. In this article, we will be discussing one product from that list, the Volkswagen Taigun and what we expect of it.

Volkswagen has put a lot of focus on the design aspect with the Taigun. The brand is promoting the Taigun as a bold and sporty-looking product. Full-LED headlights and futuristic LED tail-lamp running across the rear do give the Taigun claimed look. The alloy wheels on the upcoming Taigun look similar in design to the ones on the Tiguan and T-Roc, although with minor changes to the design. The front grille also looks borrowed from the Tiguan.

The Taigun is expected to be sporty on the inside as well. Volkswagen is expected to smartly use contrasting colours inside to give the Tiguan a modern look, intended to attract young prospective buyers. The Taigun is expected to get a futuristic-looking fully-digital instrument cluster. Moreover, a big touchscreen infotainment system and sunroof are also expected.

Platform

Taigun Rear design

The Taigun will be based on the MQB A0 IN platform, similar to its counterpart, the Skoda. The platform will also be seen underpinning the upcoming Skoda Rapid & Kushaq and Volkswagen Vento. The platform will be indigenously-built, directly allowing the brand to push competitive pricing in the market. Moreover, most of the parts will be heavily localised, meaning the after-sales services of the brand will be heavily affected in a positive way.

Rivals & Pricing

Hyundai Creta

The Taigun would rival competitors like the segment-leading Hyundai Creta, which has already set a firm foot in the Indian car market, the Kia Seltos, the MG Hector and the Tata Harrier. If Volkswagen manages to accurately position the pricing at the sweet spot, the Taigun could surely take the market by storm with its design and features on offer.

The car is expected to be priced somewhere around Rs 12 Lakh.
