New XUV500 – Should you wait for it?
Multiple spy shots of the new Mahindra XUV500 have already been doing the rounds for quite some time now. With new details emerging here and there, the XUV500 is expected to be a very promising product, similar to its earlier versions. In this article, we will discuss what we know so far regarding the new Mahindra XUV500 and whether you should wait for it?
Engine & Transmission
The upcoming XUV500 is speculated to come with a powerful 2.2-Litre m-hawk Diesel Engine capable of producing 185bhp. A 2.0-Litre m-Stallion Turbo-Petrol is also expected on the XUV500, the same which is speculated to be present on the petrol-powered Thar as well. It could produce somewhere around 190bhp.
We expect the upcoming SUV to be offered with automatic as well as manual gearboxes. Both of them are expected to be mated to the petrol and diesel engines. The upcoming XUV500 is expected to be offered as an All-Wheel-Drive, along with a differential lock on offer, to take the XUV500 for some serious off-roading.
Design
The XUV500 is expected to get newly designed sharp-looking LED DRL’s which will complement the XUV500’s bold looks. The new XUV500 is expected to share the 18-inch tyres from the current XUV500, although with newly designed alloy wheels to match with the new looks.
Platform
The upcoming XUV500 is expected to be based on the Korando platform from Ssangyong. It is expected to be based on a monocoque chassis, unlike what we see on it its siblings, the new Thar and the current Scorpio which come with a Ladder-on-Frame chassis. A monocoque chassis will be capable of providing sheer comfort inside the cabin, giving the XUV500 the premium feel which it is meant for.
Interiors
We expect to see highly improved interiors in comparison to what the current-gen XUV500 offers. The interior are expected to be much more upmarket than the current product. A single-piece display is expected, with now the instrument cluster expected to be fully digital. The single-piece display is sure to give the XUV500 a very premium look on the inside. The XUV500 will be 7-seater, similar to the current one, however, a 6-seater variant with captain seats is also expected.
Features
The upcoming XUV500 is expected to come with multiple advanced safety features which might help the XUV500 take a lead in its price bracket. Some of the expected features include Lane Assist, ADAS (advanced safety feat), park assist, engine start-stop, sunroof and connected car tech. Electronic handbrake is also expected on higher trims with the lower trims expected to get mechanical handbrake.
With expected features like ADAS on offer, the XUV500 will be a product to look forward to, as no other car in its segment offers such advanced safety features. Moreover, a powerful engine on offer will be the cherry on top for the new Mahindra XUV500. Customers should surely wait for its arrival before buying a product in its price bracket.
