Hyundai AX1 – When will it come?

Hyundai has been planning to launch a micro SUV for quite some time now, and it is evident from the spy shots of the test mules which surfaced some time ago. With the micro-SUV, Hyundai will touch a segment for which it has never brought a product in the country. In this article, we will discuss the Hyundai AX1 and what we think about its launch.

Design

The Hyundai AX1 is expected to carry the ‘Sensuous Sportiness’ design language which can be seen in most of its current products. With this, a split headlamp setup is expected, with the main headlamps taking the lower position and the LED DRLs/indicators taking the higher position. All over, the car is expected to draw inspiration from the Venue to quite some extent.

Features

The Hyundai AX1 might come with many segment-first features, following the Korean brand’s habit of loading its products with multiple features and conveniences. The micro SUV is expected to come with a touchscreen infotainment system, connected car tech and a premium sound system.

Engine & Transmission

On the engine and transmission front, the micro SUV is expected to be offered with multiple options for the customers to choose from. The car is expected to come with petrol engines mated to manual as well as automatic gearboxes. Also, a diesel engine on the AX1 would surely take the market by storm, if Hyundai brings it with one.

Launch & Pricing

Considering the future plans of Hyundai, the Korean brand is all set to launch its 7-seater, the Alcazar, pretty soon in the global markets as well as the country. With an imminent launch of a completely new product, the brand would not be willing to divert its attention to another product this soon.

However, the AX1 could be the next product from the company for India after the Alcazar is launched as all other products from the brand have been recently updated, except the Venue. The AX1 is expected to be brought sometime around Diwali this year, if Hyundai decides to push it as a festive season launch, or, by Q1 of next year.

The car is expected to launch with a price tag of around Rs 5 Lakh.
