Honda Civic is one of the most recognizable cars sold in the global car market by Honda. The Honda Civic was first launched in 1972 and is set to get an update soon. The brand name will turn 50 years in 2022, and we can expect an exceptional car from Honda. The prototype reveals that the new model will have all-new exterior and interior, better technology, and more safety features along with new colour options. What will the 2021 Honda Civic be like in India?

Less Sporty Design

While every car manufacturer is trying to make their cars sporty, Honda has gone out of the way to design a simple yet sophisticated looking beautiful car. The prototype of the 11th-generation Honda Civic is said to be an amalgamation of an all-new sedan, hatchback, Si, and Type R model. Honda promises that the Civic will be loaded with new tech, safety, features and offer the sporty charm coveted by enthusiasts.

The overall shape of the new Civic seems inspired by European cars, as Japanese cars have been traditional. But it also has a similar silhouette to the current Honda Accord. Honda claims that the new design will make the new Civic lower and wider than before; however, the prototype dimensions are identical to its predecessor. At the back, the Honda Civic 2022 prototype has larger spilt tail-lamps. There is a “trailing edge” spoiler that gives the new model a more aggressive profile, which also improves the aerodynamics. As a result, the car has both cosmetic as well as functional changes.

The new model is claimed to offer multiple new Civic-first technologies, including an all-digital driver’s meter cluster and a new 9-inch full-HD free-standing touchscreen infotainment system. Honda promises the Civic will feature a list of new technologies including upgrades safety features and driver aids. However, Honda has been tight-lipped about them and not ready to announce what will be offered under the bonnet.

Launch in India

The company has showcased the prototype version of the next-gen Civic sedan. The production version of the sedan will be introduced in global markets in mid-2021. In India, the new model is expected to arrive at the end of 2022 as 2023 model. A possible debut at the 2022 Auto Expo can’t be ignored. The sedan will take on the likes of the Hyundai Elantra and the Skoda Octavia.
