Top 10 Selling SUVs in India November 2020

SUVs or Sports Utility Vehicles all over the world are specifically known for their ease of use in off-roads and impressive ground clearance. In India, however, SUVs have become more of a status symbol with larger dimensions and impressive interior features. The sub-compact SUV segment in India is one of the most famous car segments present here. Find out below about Top 10 Selling SUVs in India in November 2020.

10) Mahindra Scorpio

India’s own car Mahindra Scorpio costs between Rs.12.39 to Rs.15.99 lakh (Ex-showroom).  Mahindra has sold 3527 units of the car this October.  The car is old, but people still are a fan of it.  Performance is Mahindra Scorpio’s USP and is widely preferred in semi-urban or rural areas.  The name Scorpio itself has become somewhat of a brand. Despite being launched in 2014, it still comes in the list of Top 10 SUVs sold in India which is quite impressive in itself.  The next generation Mahindra Scorpio is expected to launch at Diwali next year.

9) Ford EcoSport

The creator of the sub-compact SUV segment in India was the Ford EcoSport. This SUV is one of the most fun cars to drive and attracts customers easily towards its brand name. Ford’s bestselling car the EcoSport has managed to sell 4599 units in October 2020.  The Ford EcoSport costs between Rs.8.19 lakh and Rs.11.73 lakh with both petrol and manual engine option and manual/automatic transmission option.

8) Mahindra XUV300

A popular Made in India product in the compact SUV segment is the Mahindra XUV300. This car costs between Rs.8.3 to Rs.12.69 lakh ex-showroom. Mahindra sold 5895 units of the car.  Global NCAP has announced this car as the safest compact SUV in India with 5-star rating.  Both petrol and diesel engine is available on offer.  Automatic transmission is only provided with the Diesel engine. This is also the only SUV in its segment to get a 5-star rating in the Global NCAP tests.

7) Mahindra Bolero

Mahindra is SUV specialist and you may have come to the same conclusion by now. Old is Gold and Bolero proves this well.  Mahindra updated the car recently to comply with current safety standards. Rural market is the battleground for Bolero. Mahindra has sold 6,417 units. Mahindra Bolero costs between Rs.7.64 to Rs.9.01 lakh (Ex-showroom) for the updated model. The Mahindra Bolero when first launched was a full-size SUV but Mahindra converted it into a compact SUV to make it more affordable and efficiency friendly.

6) Tata Nexon

Another Made in India product. Tata Nexon costs between Rs.6.95 to Rs.12.75 lakh (Ex-showroom). 6888 units have been sold by Tata.  This car too has received 5-star safety rating from Global NCAP along with XUV300. Both petrol and diesel option is available. Automatic and manual transmission is available for purchase and is MotorOctane’s favourite SUV under Rs.15 lakh. Waiting period for all Nexon’s is slightly increasing due to the popularity of the SUV.

5) Kia Seltos

Kia has sold 8900 units in October. The car is priced between Rs.9.89 to Rs.17.34 lakh (Ex-showroom). Kia is Hyundai’s sister brand serving in India.  It faces tough competition from its sibling which occupies the top spot in our list. The Kia Seltos was only launched last year in the Indian car market but quickly became very popular due to its aggressive/appealing styling and premium interior features. 4) Hyundai Venue

A very strong contender in the sub-compact SUV segment is the Hyundai Venue. Hyundai Venue costs between Rs.6.7 to Rs.11.5 lakh (Ex-showroom). Hyundai has sold 9020 units of this car. Recently Hyundai launched iMT with the turbo Petrol variant of the car. The Hyundai Venue is quite a good looking car with automatic transmission.

3) Kia Sonet

The recently launched competitor in the sub-compact SUV segment is the Kia Sonet.  Kia has sold 11,721 units to Kia Dealers easily beating the Hyundai Venue in its segment. The Kia Sonet took the Indian car market by storm due to its plethora of features for its price/segment.  The Kia Sonet costs between Rs. 6.71 lakh and Rs. 12.99 lakh (Ex-showroom) and comes with both petrol/diesel engine option with manual and different automatic transmission options.

2) Maruti Brezza

Maruti as a brand has its monopoly in overall car sales. It costs between Rs.7.33 to Rs.11.39 lakh (Ex-showroom). Maruti has sold 12,087 units in October. Only Petrol engine is available for purchase as of now.  There are not any cosmetic or performance changes, still due to its Maruti badge sells high numbers. The 1.5L K-series engine is highly trustworthy but the Vitara Brezza’s price starts a little bit higher compared to competition, something, unlike other Maruti cars. 1) Hyundai Creta

One SUV which made the SUV segment what it is today in India, is the Hyundai Creta. The Hyundai Creta has continued leading the list since a very long time. Hyundai Creta costs between Rs.9.99 to Rs.17.2 lakh (Ex-showroom).  Hyundai has sold 14023 units of the Creta in October. Three engine options and both manual and automatic transmissions are available for purchase. The new generation Hyundai Creta has retained all the good bits from the previous generation and has heavily improved in its weak parts. The Hyundai Creta is a Maruti-like sales car in the SUV segment.
