The video of the bike has been uploaded by Royal Roads 500 on their YouTube Channel.  The bike mentioned above is situated in Coimbatore in India.  The brand Sooraj was basically a tractor manufacturer in the ‘90s and a well-known brand name in India.  During its time only a limited number of bikes were sold in the Indian market.  The bike also uses a Diesel engine similar to Royal Enfield Diesel.

The owner brought the bike in scrap condition and took it as a side project in his garage.  The previous owner of the bike had painted it black and pasted Royal Enfield stickers on it.  The whole bike was repainted and restored by a trusted workshop near the owner.  According to the owner of the bike, it took almost one full year for the full restoration of the bike.

The owner also tried to keep all the parts original thus showing his love for the brand/bike. He also has experience with other older bikes in his garage. The main advantage of this Greaves Lombardini diesel engine is that it was very fuel-efficient and it returns somewhere between 70-80 km/l and has a fuel tank capacity of 8 litres.

Conclusion

Sooraj Motorcycle was known for its strong build quality but a very heavyweight.  The engine has been fully restored on the bike and retains the old engine.  Despite its retro-modern looks, the exhaust note of the motorcycle will always remind you of its heritage.  Inspite of being such a heavy bike, it returns a respectable fuel average.
