The sub-4 meter compact-SUV segment is the most sought after segment in India. Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Tata, Mahindra have at least one offering on the above segment. Nissan was out of the competition for a very long time but things are set to change for good. We shared an article about Nissan Magnite recently. A new production-ready test car(Nissan Magnite) was spotted recently road testing in India.

Details about the spy shot

The test mule was spotted testing in India by our sources. Nissan has really done a brilliant work of camouflaging the car well. No relevant details can be seen on the car. Only the steering wheel, antenna and blacked-out steel rims can be seen on the test car.  SUV elements will be added to the production car to make it more appealing. The car looks short and tall and design elements are not very clear yet.  Nissan currently only sells Kicks and GTR, thus making its market share very low. If the car is aggressively priced and provides value for money, it can help the company survive in India.

Specifications and Features

Nissan has made no official announcement of the car as well as its specifications and feature. The car, however, was briefly teased in a Nissan video not very long ago.

Daytime LED running lights can also be a standard feature in this car. Like the Kwid climber, expect the car to come with all SUV visual add ons. The wheel cladding, ride height and wheel size will be pretty much like any other Compact SUV. The overall styling of the car screams aggression. Dual-tone interior, sunroof, a 360-degree parking camera, connected car tech and automatic climate control are some of the things to expect.

Engine and Performance

This car may very well be petrol only. With the advent of BS6 in India, the majority of car manufacturers have scraped their diesel engines and Nissan may be no different. It knows that for success in the Indian market, petrol is the way to go to grab the masses. The lower variant is expected to produce 72hp from a 1.0-litre petrol engine while the higher variant will produce about 95 hp from a turbocharged version of the engine.

Price and Competiton

Maruti Brezza

To beat competition in the Indian Market, there is only one weapon and that is pricing. Everything boils down to price so if Nissan wins only in this particular field, it can easily grab a major chunk of the market. Hyundai Venue provides the most basic variant of its car for ₹6.50 lakh which is already very affordable but if Nissan wants to beat Hyundai on their own game it needs to anyhow set the price lower than this.  The Nissan Magnite will also compete against Renault Keiger, which was spotted testing recently and may launch soon. Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza has been one of the top 10 highest selling cars and will give the Nissan Magnite a run for its money.
