Benelli was the only company that was locking horns with the Royal Enfield’s most selling bike the Classic 350. With Benelli Imperiale 400 priced at Rs 1.96 in its BS4 avatar, they were trying to march into the sales of the RE Classic 350 at Rs 1.5 lakhs in its BS4 stage, Now the price for the RE Classic has been increased to 1.65 lakhs for the base model. On the other hand the Benelli is charging Rs 30,000 more for its BS6 model. Does Bs6 Benelli Imperiale 400 give the extra value for the extra bucks that are being spent?

Benelli’s Word

Commenting on the launch of the new Benelli Imperiale 400 BS 6, Vikas Jhabhak, MD Benelli India, said “We are delighted to introduce the BS 6 Imperiale 400. The premium retro cruiser became more popular since the day it was launched and is a favourite among many classic bike fanatics. With the transitioning to BS 6 norms, we are confident about strengthening the Imperiale brand further, establishing Benelli’s identity in the entry-level classic bike segment.”

Is it really overpriced now?

Build quality apart, now just looking at the spec sheet and offers on this bike the bike does not look overpriced. Bs6 Benelli Imperiale 400 is slightly costlier than the Royal Enfield but you are getting a product that is not as common as other bikes on the street. The increasing price for different variants is not something that we are in favour off but that is a clever marketing strategy and Royal Enfield too does it.

Finally, we are looking at a purchase of Rs 2 lakhs and above with the road taxes in mind. If you are looking for a long term bike that you are going to keep for more than 5 years then this bike does make sense. There are other better options in this price bracket if you just want a bike but if you are looking the Retro styling then it sure does come expensive.
