According to our sources Daizo Kameyama, Chief Engineer in charge of development, commented on the unveiling of the new model, “Now that the Corolla Cross has newly joined the Corolla family, we sincerely hope that our customers will warmly welcome the vehicle to become part of their families: just like their partners, siblings or even friends. We wish that the Corolla Cross could assist customers in creating a new story by loading on their vehicle the people who are important to them, the luggage, and dreams for the future.”

When will it come to India?

The car has only launched in Thailand as of now. Toyota always launches its cars there first and then brings them to the other markets. Recently Toyota launched a new generation Toyota Fortuner too in Thailand. As a result, that car may come to India first and Corolla Cross may only be launched with or after the Fortuner, which sells higher numbers. SUV segment in India is booming so Toyota will definitely try to bring this new car in the Indian market ASAP.

The car will likely compete against Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, MG Hector and Tata Harrier to name a few. If Toyota imports this car into the country, it will be priced premiumly compared to its competition.

On the first glance, the Toyota Corolla Cross looks like any other conventional SUV. The SUV is based on Toyota’s TNGA platform and looks stylish, muscular and massive all at the same time. The front aggressive look of the car is perfect for the Indian market and its dimensions demand road presence.  The massive black front grille and sharp headlamps add to the styling of the car.  SUV styling elements are present as standard on the car.  The Toyota Corolla has been highly successful in the market and as a result, this new car will have to be its best to live up to its name.
